I bought my '77 Harley as a rolling chassis from my friend, John Nash, who died a few days later. John had planned to paint it candy red, I like metalflake, and the bike was loaded with chrome, so I went '70s show-bike gaudy! After primer, and sanding with 600 grit between coats,I sprayed it Dupli-Color Metalcast silver ground coat, sprayed clear urethane with silver Old School Flake, masked everything that would stay silver, sprayed Dupli-Color Metalcast red, unmasked, and clear urethaned everything. Fenders and most of tank are small flake. Insert and sides of dash are big "boat flake". Engine mods:bored & stroked, hot cam, flywheel shaved, prototype Qwiksilver carb, braided lines, Edelbrock air cleaner. Teardrop/comet theme was inspired by 1962 tank emblems-carries through on all lights, tank insert, and engine covers. I mounted the front signals on the headlight. Someone had stolen the blue dot from the taillight, so I cut a bigger hole and epoxied a 1946 Chevy truck clearance lens to it. Seats are Le Pera. Front brake is Airheart, back is GMA. John had had the top tree milled from stainless, with "Big John" welded across it, so I decided to keep it. An "In Memory of John Nash" decal is cleared to the back fender...we'll always ride together!
