For my restoration, I wanted to make a one of a kind edition and design and modify it as I thought the factory might have done if the TR6A had evolved. (The A is the factory designation of a model with factory modifications as TR3A and TR4A.) The TR6 started as a basket case I obtained as partial payment for restoration I was doing. I removed the fenders which I later replaced with fiberglass ones. I pulled the engine and transmission and had them professionally rebuilt(Medina Motorsports). With the engine removed, I cleaned, degreased, filled, sanded, primed, and painted the engine compartment and body tub using spray cans of paint made from my exterior color (Duplicolor Omni Pak). I painted the engine, spray coated the exhaust manifold, and sprayed the brake servo, wiper motor, air cleaner, and fuel pump with stainless steel paint. After degreasing, I sprayed the chassis with stainless steel paint, the same for the suspension before rebuilding with urethane bushings. For the front valance, I created a honeycomb grille. I cut two air intakes to cool the engine. On the front fenders, I eliminated the side marker indentations using fiberglass and body filler. I cut a hole in the fenders and inner fenders to vent the engine compartment. Using fiberglass, I mounted scoops over the holes to finish the design, then sanded the fenders. On the rockers, I removed the chrome strip, fasteners, and the black coating. This was then filled, sanded, and primed. On the rear fenders, I filled the side marker indentations and sanded the fenders. The rear valance was redesigned with circular tail lights and a third brake light. The license bracket was lowered and reverse lights mounted below the bumper. All seams were painted before reconstruction. The trunk lid was fitted with a modified spoiler. The wheels are turbine mags I had for this project, which I restored with a kit from Griot's. I added swept wing spinner center caps with a custom TR6A logo. I had the seats, top boot, and roll bar cover done professionally (Pat's Upholstery). I covered the dash, door panels, kick panels, custom console, custom shift gate, rear shelf, and transmission hump panels with quilted gray vinyl. I relocated switches from the original dash locations. I designed a warning light panel and installed a push button starter. I designed a custom console and a shift gate. After painting the top frame, I installed the convertible top and roll bar. In the trunk I made panels covered in gray vinyl to complete the interior. I made belt tie downs to secure the toolbox and battery charger. I finished it off with a custom logo design. The major assistance I had was exterior painting. I have two friends I worked with at school(teacher - 35 years) who also work on cars. Kevin Pall and Edwin Reyes painted my car.
