1959 Berkeley 492

This is my 1959 Berkeley 492. The entire build took me 2 years to complete by myself. This was modified to assist in my master's thesis and can get up to 72mpg on pump gas. It is one of a handful of British Berkeleys in the US with a total production of 2500 from 1955 to 1960. Because of its rarity, everything was handmade, repaired, or had suitable aftermarket replacements. After an engine swap, the stock 18.5hp engine was exchanged for a Yamaha 2-cylinder with over 55hp. At under 750lbs, the power to weight ratio of the vehicle makes this a peppy competitor in a race or a fun ride on the street (yes, it's not much bigger than a go-kart - but street legal!)
