1976 AMC Pacer, I Purchased car in the fall of 2004 over the next 2 years swapped in a Chrysler 440 engine,727 transmission, Ford 8.8 rear end w/superior axles (3.31 ratio right now). Converted the Pacer from drum to disc brakes. Rear brakes are Ford aerostar 10” Drum Brakes Drove car on 2006 hot rod power tour with my son Anthony. While on the way to Roanoke Va the car started to run very badly. Tore down the engine in the parking lot of the Salem civic center during the middle of power tour. We found the camshaft had gone flat on a couple of lobes, We limped the car back home the next day (We then jumped in my 93 mustang cobra and caught up to the power tour @2am the next day but that’s another story) After repairing the engine just tinkered with the car for the rest of the year and took it to local cruise ins once in a while. In 2007 it was time for the power tour again. This time we made The whole route from Cleveland to Little Rock(WOHO) 2008 started body work on car, stripped car down to shell, removed all old paint and body filler 1 panel at a time, repaired rust and dents (replaced drivers floor pan, made patch panels for rear quarter lower sections and other areas)primed all panels and refitted. jan 2009 sent to micar collision in Chesapeake Virginia for paint work, received car back 2 weeks later and began reassembly of car,5/26/2009 vehicle is ready to drive again.Anthony and I did the Hot Rod power tour again in 2009, long haul from Madison Wisconsin to Bristol Tn. We had a blast on the trip and got a picture in the October 2009 issue of hot rod mag, All work except machining of engine block(Magnum Machine in Chesapeake) and paint work(Micar Collision in Chesapeake) has been done by Eric and Anthony Davenport in our home garage . We have a lot of fun with the car it gets attention everywhere we go with it. Love it or hate it everybody smiles at it and remember it Some stats now car weighs about 3800 with driver Best ¼ mile time is 13.00 @105.5 mph on street tires
